Study with two of Seattle’s most dynamic contemporary dance directors, Marlo Martin of badmarmarDANCE and Cyrus Khambatta of Khambatta Dance Company in a six day intensive for intermediate to advanced students. Includes master classes with international artists and well-known Seattle choreographers.

The intensive includes daily rehearsals with Cyrus and Marlo, culminating in an exciting main stage festival performance amongst international and regional professional companies.

Full Tuition includes classes 9:30am--5:30pm daily M-F with 1.5 hour lunch and short breaks between classes. Institute dates are June 15-21 (Performances will be Sat. June 20 or Sunday June 21)

There are no drop-ins.

TICKETS: to see performances (5) at the festival during your stay are available, please indicate this in the provided text field. These tickets will be discounted to $10 per show. You will purchase them when you arrive. They cannot be purchased through this registration form.

ACCOMODATION: will only be reserved for you, you will pay for your own accomodations once you arrive (at our negotiated rate) at the Cornish dormitory located at 2213 8th Avenue, Seattle, WA. It is within walking distance to all festival activities and downtown attractions. You can also find your own housing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: If I have not taken a lot of dance can I take a class?
A: We currently offer classes for intermediate and advanced students. If you have any question about your status, please email Connie Villines at Connie@SeattleIDF.org.
Q: How many performances can I see while I am studying.
A: Depending on availability, there are performances every night of the Institute except Monday. You can see as many as you wish. All performances are discounted ($10) for Full Session participants.
Q: Can I drop in on some of the Daytime classes?
A: Generally no. There may be a few exceptions depending on experience and space available.
Q: What is the minimum age requirement for the Institute?
A: The minimum age is 15 years of age. Please be aware that the Institute is not for beginners, so only younger dancers who have training commensurate with the adult intermediate/advanced level will be accepted.
Q: Can I get credit from my college or Cornish College of the Arts for this program
A: No, this is not available at this time.
Q: If coming from out of town, when can I arrive and when must I leave?
A: You can arrive after 2pm on June 14 . You will be given the location of your stay prior to arrival. You will need to leave June 22 by noon unless you make other arrangements (see below).
Q: Can I stay in Seattle after the Institute is over?
A: The Institute sign in is June 14. Once you have paid, you will receive information before your arrival of the location you will be staying (if you have chosen housing) and you are free to stay as long as you would like at the the Cornish College of the Arts dorm housing. The daily rate for Cornish housing is $25/day.
